As a medium-sized company, OHplus GmbH has been operating a glycerin treatment plant at its Staßfurt (Saxony-Anhalt) site to produce high-purity glycerol since 2007.
Glycerol is obtained from so-called glycerol phases (methanol-containing glycerol), which is a by-product of the production of biodiesel, through various distillation and cleavage processes for a wide range of industrial applications. Other by-products during processing include methanol and fatty acids, which can be used as sustainable raw materials for the production of biodiesel.
