The raw materials used are mainly methanol-containing glycerol phases, which are necessarily a by-product of the production of sustainable biodiesel or comparable transesterification processes.
The majority of the raw materials come from waste-based biodiesel production, which use used cooking oils as starting materials.
Glycerol phases consist primarily of glycerol and also contain methanol in variable concentrations as well as other accompanying substances related to raw materials and processes. The exact composition depends on the origin of the fats/oils used and on the process management at the upstream supplier.
Typical components of glycerol phases are:
The methanol-containing glycerol phases are not an end product, but a precursor or feedstock which, as part of our glycerol treatment, are subjected to methanol separation, desalination, evaporation, distillation and decolorization, with the aim of obtaining a high-purity glycerol distillate based on the quality standard of the European Pharmacopoeia (Ph.Eur. -Standard).
